InterScience, Inc. is a contract research and development company dedicated to the advancement of technology through the application of knowledge with imagination. InterScience thrives on the challenge of niche market technology development for customers in commercial industry, federal and state government. Our core expertise is in two areas: (1) electro-optical systems and (2) embedded systems for control, data acquisition and processing for broad applications in industry, medicine, space and defense programs. Many of our project undertakings require a multi-disciplinary approach and our staff includes scientists and engineers with diverse fields of expertise. InterScience is a small business that focuses on innovative technology development from research to product. Although not a commercial product-oriented company, successful technology commercialization is realized through licensing technology, establishing joint ventures and collaboration with our affiliated companies. As a result of several of InterScience’s research and development projects achieving field worthiness, products are now being actively developed for commercialization.

InterScience, Inc. is located in Troy, in the heart of Upstate New York's Tech Valley along the Hudson River, in the picturesque setting of the Rensselaer Technology Park, operated by the Rensselaer Technology Institute. The serene setting is reflected in the flexible work environment where the emphasis is on innovation and having fun doing it. The resilience of the company in retaining its corporate culture for more than 25+ years can be attributed to the extensive innovative capabilities of the staff and to the management style that fosters creativity in people who enjoy science and technology.

InterScience, Inc. was founded in 1980 by Dr. James T. Woo. While he was on the faculty of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he came to recognize the need to bridge the gap between basic research and practical applications. Believing this gap could best be closed by technology entrepreneurship, he founded InterScience, Inc. to pursue such opportunities. The company has remained focused on this goal, developing strengths in multi-disciplinary technologies to respond to the ever-changing needs to technology advancement and innovation.
